Costco, how do I love thee?

Wow, long time no blog. What can I say? It’s been a rough few months - work has been incredibly time-consuming…to the point where all I do is work, eat and sleep. But a new year is around the corner and I feel the winds of change a-coming!

Happy New Year, by the way! I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season and have a healthy and successful 2008 ahead of you.

Now, to my post…

I love Costco. No. Really. I really really love Costco. I could sit here and sing their praises, but what would this have to do with being good environmentalism? Well, my friend, let me tell you. I just found out today that Costco has a recycling program! Not just any recycling program though. Costco has a trade-in recycling program for various electronics, including laptops/computers, LCD monitors, game consoles and more.

If you enter in some basic information about your item, Costco will spit out a trade-in value. If you’d like to recycle your item, Costco will then email you a pre-paid UPS shipping label. Costco will also send you a Costco Cash Card equal to your trade-in value (assuming your item is of value)! How great is that? Genius. Not only does it incent people to recycle their unused items, but it also pushes customers back to their nearest Costco store. Cha-ching! (More bulk toilet paper? Anyone?)
If you’re interested in this program, check out this link. Happy recycling!
