New Zealand’s Methane Problem

Did you know that 1/3 of New Zealand's greenhouse gases come from animals? It's hard to believe but it's true. Apparently scientists are trying to reduce methane output by eliminating methane-producing microbes which can be found in a cow's rumen (part of their digestive system). A couple of strategies discussed include genetically engineering the microbes so they stop producing methane, or changing animals' feed.
