It was recently reported that sales of environmentally friendly cars in Sweden have soared by 49% in 2007. This is primarily due to financial incentives from the government - roughly $1500 was given back to individuals who purchased cars that produce lower emissions, is a hybrid or runs on biofuels.
As a results, about 55,000 new green cars were registered in 2007, and green cars now comprise about 18% of the total car market in Sweden. Cool, eh?
